This is my unexpected growth story. Let’s write yours.
Small town boy, entry level job, too shy to be a sales guy – such are the humble origins that I come from. Two decades and a CXO role later, I now believe that we can all rise to our potential with the right coaching, mentoring and training at the right time.
I embraced change and invited new experiences to grow
In my sales career, I discovered that being an introvert was a good thing. I listened well, giving undivided attention to whoever I am with. I connected better. I quit my successful career as a senior business director to become an ICF trained Coach. Today, I am a sales mentor and an executive career coach. I am seen as someone people trust, backed by my rich experience and insights into accelerating businesses and my career. I believe that there is no one right way to grow. My mission is to guide those who’re passionate about riding their growth curve, their way. I want to enable you to become the most successful version of yourself.
From a shy guy to an influential senior business director to a trusted and empathic coach:
My journey
-
Grew up in Patna in the 80s and 90s
-
I used to hear stories of my freedom fighter grandfather and was inspired by them. I wanted to do something different.
-
Did not choose a trending government job at that time or an engineering course
Pre
2000
-
Opted to do an MBA in Goa, 2000 km away from home. It was a great exposure. I learnt to relate to people from different backgrounds and social strata.
-
In the first IT boom of India, my batchmates went for software jobs. But I chose sales, rather contrary to my shy nature, in the Telecom/Internet Sector.
-
My role in GTL involved B2B sales, selling VPNs, bandwidth and Cisco routers. Embracing the complexity, I moved to selling solutions, while many batchmates continued to focus on traditional product or channel sales models. I was also awarded the Best Sales Performer.
2000-
2004
-
In just 3 years, I rose to become a Key Accounts Manager. But I was restless and wanted to work with people. I realised that people simply seek connection.
-
Joined TeamLease, a year-old startup, to become a Branch Manager and relocated to Chennai. It was a thrilling experience as I began things from scratch in a new city, including an HR role, established the branch and set the foundation.
-
Moved to Adecco in Mumbai and did HR sales solutions and led branch operations. I excelled in the role and rose to be an Area Manager.
2004-
2009
-
By 2010, I wanted to specialise further in training and talent development. I joined as one of the earliest employees in an MNC training company and sold training solutions to some of the largest companies in India.
-
I also became the only person in India to be awarded the Best Sales Performer Globally by President Gold Club consecutively for 2010 & 2011.
-
In 2015, I was the Best Performer for India Region.
-
I also rose to be a Regional Manager handling the entire North India operations.
-
In 2019, I transitioned to head a business unit for a social enterprise and led them to double their business even during covid times.
2010-
2020
-
I made my final pivot in 2021, when I joined an edtech startup as a VP and led the business growth function to 2x the revenue and profits. I also managed a successful merger and transition to the new entity Betterplace.
-
I rose to be a Senior Director heading the entire digital LMS business for Betterplace.
-
Finally quit my corporate career to consolidate my own experiences. Became an ICF trained coach, mentor and creator-educator to pursue my passion for people and growth.
